I'm guessing it'll be Call of Duty version 1.4 ( http://www.ausgamers.com/files/details/html/11357 )
and Dawn of War version 1.10 ( http://www.3dgamers.com/dlselect/games/wh40kdawnwar/dow-110-english.exe.html ) For those who want to get ready :) |

CoD is actually pretty big in Canberra. Not huge, but not small either.
There are quite a few teams and players. I'm just hoping they'll all band together and show up :) |

I've never even heard of Warhammer 40K Dawn of War. What sort of game is it?
I'm actually getting pretty heavily into CS:Source at the moment. So far it seems most of the outrageously good players (cheats?) haven't picked it up yet and I'm finishing most rounds at or near the top of the scoresheet :-) I don't know what's wrong with me... I've always (well since CS1.0 anyhow) been so anti CS. But CS Source is actually quite good. Does anyone know if anything 'Source' can be run at a LAN? |

Warhammer 40k is fair damn cool.
It runs on the WC3 engine and basically... it looks exactly the same as Starcraft (well, starcraft is a rip off of warhammer really). *sigh* i really like playing CoD... of course im actually away on the weekend of the lan )*$W# |

Imp, we'll hopefully have some Source servers running at the lan. We aren't running a CS:source comp due to the number of problems that steam introduces at this time. These include:
1) You can't install the game and play it at the lan (not net connection) 2) If you logged out of steam last time you played then it will try to reconnect and wont work 3) There could be problems if vavle patches the game and not everyone gets it However if all goes smoothly with the source servers this lan then there maybe a comp for the January lan. |

CS Source is the only one as that's all that is out in multiplayer so far (unless DoD got released overnight)

So you'll be running a CS:Source server at the LAN, just not a tournament?
Also, Half-Life Source is out. Does it not have multiplayer? |

The prob with HL:S is that you have to pay extra for it, n I am not going to. Although I do have 1 collector's edn for sale still. I don't like cs:source as much as 1.6, i think it is too spammy, n bs. Also they seem to have changed some things, like the deagle seems to be less powerful (yet it is suppose to be a .50 cal, same bore calibre as the awp, go figure). I'll stop entering realism into the discussion on cs now.
LANGames will supply a cs:source server n cs 1.6 server as part of our sponsorship. Who cares what prizes Plx, we just want to have comps where we have fun don't we? last edited by Bandit at 13:35:32 24/Nov/04 |

you got collectors edition though i'm guessing.
or bought silver or gold over steam. DoW is a mix between warcraft and c&C generals. it's pretty cool :) and my 2 cents, being an ex-hardcore cs player is that cs:source is s***. it has been made heaps noob friendly, to exaggerate, you can basically aim at their feet and still get a headshot!! waste of time. people who didn't like normal cs, only like cs source because you can ... shoot barrels. |

They've got Half Life 2 to work in multiplayer now, you just have to download some little file to make it work. It's unoffical BTW

Hi all,
I'm going to be running the Dawn of War comp at the LAN and I've been trying to work out what maps to use, but as it turns out, none of the ACTGN admins actually play this game so we have no idea which maps are good for 1v1! So here is what I'm gonna do. I'll let the players decide. Before the tournament begins, I will gather all those that signed up for it on the day and we will have a short discussion on what maps should be included in the rotation. I plan to take regos for the comp during Saturday morning and I plan to kick the first round off at around 12 midday. If you have any other questions just ask :-) |
